A Camping Retreat 3.5 km Deep in a Pine Forest Most People Don’t Know Exists
Camp Roxx is a nature camping retreat in a 1,700-acre reserved pine forest near Kangojodi, Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh. Run by MCG Camp Roxx Pvt. Ltd. since 2009, it sits 275 km from Delhi (about 5.5 hours by road) and 33 km from Nahan on the Nahan-Shimla Highway. We host families, couples, friend groups, and corporate teams year-round.
How a Pine Forest Became a Second Home for Thousands
In 2009, we found a patch of land 3.5 kilometres inside a reserved pine forest in the Sirmaur hills. No signboard on the highway. No Google Maps pin. Just 1,700 acres of Chir Pine, the sound of wind through needles, and the kind of silence city people pay therapists to find.
We didn’t build a resort. We built a campground — one that keeps the forest intact and puts you in the middle of it. Our cabins have attached bathrooms and 24/7 electricity, because roughing it shouldn’t mean misery. Our Alpine tents have common washrooms, because some guests want the real deal. Both types sit under a canopy that blocks cell reception and makes you deal with the people you came with.
Since then, we’ve hosted corporate teams who needed a strategy session without Slack notifications. Families who needed their kids to see an actual star, not an emoji. Couples who wanted a weekend that didn’t revolve around a mall food court.
MCG Camp Roxx Pvt. Ltd. is a registered company. But the camp itself runs on a simpler principle: give people a forest, a bonfire, decent food, and enough activities to make them forget what day it is. That part hasn’t changed since 2009.

The Forest That Makes Us Different
Camp Roxx isn’t near a forest. It’s inside one. The Kangojodi reserved pine forest in Sirmaur district is one of the largest unbroken Chir Pine stands in the lower Himalayas — and our campground sits at its heart.
1,700 Acres of Pine Canopy
Reserved forest land protected by the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department. Chir Pine as far as you can see in every direction, with natural trails cutting through the trees.
Kangojodi, Sirmaur District
33 km from Nahan town on the Nahan-Shimla Highway. Gunjarput Village is the nearest settlement. Elevation sits between 900–1,100 metres above sea level.
275 km from Delhi
Take NH-44 toward Ambala, then turn toward Nahan. Total drive time: 5.5 to 6 hours from the Delhi border. The last 33 km on the Nahan-Shimla Highway is the scenic part.
Year-Round Camping
Summers (March–June) are warm and clear. Monsoons (July–September) turn everything emerald. Winters (October–February) bring crisp, bonfire-perfect nights down to 5°C.
Forest Wildlife
Spotted deer, langur monkeys, Himalayan birds (including migratory species November–February at nearby Renuka Lake). No tigers — just the kind of wildlife that makes mornings interesting.
Deliberately Off-Grid
We have 24/7 electricity and power backup. We do not have strong cell reception. That’s a feature, not a bug. Wi-Fi is available at the main building for emergencies.

The People Behind Camp Roxx
Not placeholder names from a WordPress theme. Real people who’ve been running this camp through monsoons, power cuts, and the occasional curious langur.
Has run Camp Roxx since 2009. Knows every trail in the Kangojodi forest, the best month for birdwatching at Renuka Lake, and exactly how many rotis a corporate team of 40 goes through in a weekend.
Manages the guest experience from first enquiry to final checkout. If you’ve called Camp Roxx, you’ve probably spoken with Sameer. Handles bookings, itineraries, and making sure the bonfire is actually lit on time.
The local team from Sirmaur who keep everything running — from cooking dal that city guests keep asking the recipe for, to rigging the Flying Fox, to knowing which trail is muddy this week.
